Death notices for Donegal on Thursday evening

The following deaths have taken place:

- Edward Gallagher, Dublin and Gortahork

- JJ Doherty, Monaghan and Ballybofey

- Clair Whoriskey, Letterkenny

- James (Séamus) McLoone, Galway and Glenties

- Bridie Porter, Bridgend

Edward Gallagher, Dublin and Gortahork

The death has taken place on Edward Gallagher, Perrystown, Dublin  and Gortahork, Donegal. He passed away peacefully at home in Vincennes, France.

Beloved husband of the late Bridget and loving dad of Anthony; sadly missed by his loving son, daughter-in-law Murielle, grandchildren Caitlín, Órla and Ciara, brother Joe and sister, Madge, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours, former colleagues and many friends.

Funeral arrangements to follow

JJ Doherty, Monaghan and Ballybofey

The has taken place of John James (JJ) Doherty, Department Of Agriculture, Ballybay, County Monaghan and formerly Sessiaghoneill, Ballybofey. He passed away peacefully at the Beaumont Hospital Dublin.

Predeceased by his parents Andy and Pat, JJ is deeply regretted and remembered with love by his family, son Stephen, partner Amy and Stephen’s mother Collette, sisters Patricia, Maeve, Pauline, Tess, Bernadine and Ursula, brother Drew, brothers in-law, sisters in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and many friends.

His remains will repose at Ward's Funeral Home, Ballybay, (A75H585) on Friday from 3pm until 8pm, and in the family home Sessiaghoneill, Ballybofey (F93X97V) on Saturday afternoon from 2pm until Rosary at 9pm.

Removal on Sunday morning at 10.40am, proceeding on foot, to arrive at St Mary’s Church, Sessiaghoneill for funeral Mass at 11am followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Clair Whoriskey, Letterkenny

The death has occurred of Clair Whoriskey, 79 Meadow Bank, Letterkenny. She passed away at the Donegal Hospice, surrounded by her loved ones.

Clair will be sadly missed by her loving family, partner Thomas, parents Bridie and Frank Whoriskey, sister Frances, brother-in-law Raymond Coyle, niece Aoibheann and nephews Matthew and Ben.

Her remains will repose at her parents' home ,7 College Park, Letterkenny F92 V2N6 from Thursday at 5pm. House private from 10pm to 10am and on the morning of the funeral.

Requiem Mass on Saturday at 11am in St Eunan's Cathedral with burial afterwards at New Leck Cemetery.

Donations in lieu of flowers to the Donegal Hospice, care of Bradley O'Doherty Funeral Directors or any family member.

Morgan Downey, Limerick and Ballyshannon

The death has taken place peacefully at home, of Morgan Downey, Mill Road, Ballyclough, Limerick and late of Higginstown, Ballyshannon.

Sadly missed by his loving wife Stella, sons Ambrose, Morgan, Ivor and Michael, daughters-in-law Michaela, Sylvia and Bríd, adored grandchildren Ronan, Christian, Ciara, Aisling, Éabha, Shane, Oscar, Aoife, Tom, Ambrose and Morgan, by his brothers Michael, John, Ambrose and Fergus, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends

His remains are reposing at Griffin’s Funeral Home, John’s Gate on Friday from 4.30pm to 6pm. House private. 

Funeral arriving at Donoughmore Church, on Saturday, July 26 for Requiem Mass at 11am. Burial will take place afterwards in Castlemungret Cemetery, Mungret.

Family flowers only please.

James (Séamus) McLoone, Galway and Glenties

The death has taken place of James (Séamus) McLoone, Aughnacurra and late of Renmore, Galway and formerly of Glenties. James died peacefully at home with his much-loved family by his side.

He is mourned and sadly missed by his sister Nábla McCarthy, brothers Patrick, Donal, Hugh and Fr Francis, brother-in-law Pat, sisters-in-law Kathleen, Ethna, Mary and Mairéad, friend Máire O’Leary, his nieces and nephews, devoted carers, the extended family and retired colleagues from the Brothers of Charity Services and University of Galway. He is predeceased by his parents John and Bella, brother John, sister Eileen and her husband Jim Loftus.

His remains will repose at ‘Aras Naofa’ (H91 PX95) within the grounds of the Church of St Oliver Plunkett, Renmore on Thursday from 5pm, with removal into the Church at 6.30pm.

Requiem Mass will be celebrated for James (Séamus) at 12 noon on Friday in the Church of St Oliver Plunkett, Renmore. Following Mass, he will be laid to rest in Bushy Park cemetery adjacent to St James’ Church (H91 A5V2). 

Memorial donation in lieu of flowers if so desired to Concern. 

Bridie Porter, Bridgend

The death has taken place of Bridie Porter, née Connaghan, 279 Skeoge Cottages, Bridgend, Donegal, F93 R9V4. She passed away peacefully in Donegal Hospice, surrounded by her loving family.

Predeceased by loving husband John, Parents John and Margaret Connaghan (Gartan, Churchill) grandchildren Aisling, Charlie and Ameera, brothers John and Willie, Sisters Gracie, Margaret and Frances; loving mother of Leo (Linda), Shaun (Noeleen), Mairead, Eileen (Brendan), Liam (Marie), Noreen (Danny), Frances (Andrew), Katrina (Paul), Martina (Shaun), Raymond (Teresa), Declan, Eamonn (Martina), Siobhan (Feargal), Clare (Damian) and Priscilla (Joe); deeply regretted by her grandchildren, great grandchildren, extended family members and friends.

Bridie's remains will are reposing at her late residence. Family time from 11pm to 11am and on the morning of the funeral.

Funeral from there on Friday morning for Requiem Mass at 11am in St Aengus Church Burt, followed by interment in Burt cemetery.

Family flowers only please, donations if desired to the Donegal Hospice or Medical 3 Letterkenny university hospital care of any family member or Charlie Mc Clafferty Funeral Director.

Charles Mc Gee, Stranorlar

The death has taken place place of former retired member of An garda Síochana, Charles McGee, 38 Woodlawn, Stranorlar, F93 C6Y8. He passed away peacefully after a long illness bravely borne, surrounded by his loving family, in the compassionate care of the staff in Donegal Hospic.

Beloved husband of Margaret, much-loved father to sons John (Julie), Cathal (Clodagh), Joseph (Maria); daughters Pamela (Mark), Moira (Derek); cherished brother of James, Micheal, Hudie; dearly loved grandfather to Hannah, Órlaith, Sophie, Ruby, Noah, Poppy, Aaron, Louis, Luke, Adam, Ollie and Conor. He is predeceased by his parents John, and Theresa, sister Bella and grandson Niall. Deeply regretted and lovingly remembered by his, wife, sons, daughters, brothers, grandchildren, nephews, nieces, extended family and many friends.

Reposal of his remains continues at his late residence on Thursday from 2pm until Rosary at 9pm for family and friends. Family time on the morning of the funeral please

Funeral leaving from his late residence on Friday at 10.30am for Requiem Mass in the Church of Mary Immaculate, Stranorlar at 11am followed by burial in Drumboe cemetery. Mass will be streamed live via the Parish Webcam
