Death notices for Donegal on Saturday evening

The following deaths have taken place:

- Ciaràn Gillen, Carndonagh and Dublin

- Pat Sweeney, Dublin and Loughanure

- Cherie Kelly, Castlefin

Ciaràn Gillen, Carndonagh and Dublin

The sudden death has taken place of Ciarán Gillen, Church Road, Carndonagh, at his home in Dublin.

Predeceased by his father Patsy, he is sadly missed by his mother Mary, his brother Colm (Roísín), his sisters Dympna (Gene), Gráinne (Finbarr), Maeve (Keith), his nieces and nephews Eimear, Eoghan, Seán, Blaíthín and Daríona.

Ciarán’s remains will arrive at the Muff border at approx 8pm on Monday evening to continue to the family home at Church Road, Carndonagh, where everyone is welcome to pay their respects until 10pm and on Tuesday from 1pm to 9pm. The family home is private on the morning of the funeral.

Funeral from there on Wednesday at 11.30am for 12pm funeral Mass in The Church of the Sacred Heart, Carndonagh followed by interment in the adjoining graveyard. Funeral mass can be viewed live on www.carndonaghparish.com

Pat Sweeney, Dublin and Loughanure

The death has occurred of Patrick (Pat) Sweeney, late of New Ireland Road, Rialto and formerly of Loughanure, County Donegal. He passed away peacefully in the wonderful care of staff at St James’s Hospital with his son by his side.

Beloved husband of the late Carmel and loving father of Phil; sadly, missed by his loving son, sisters Vicky and Anne, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

His remains are reposing at the Brian McElroy Funeral Home, Crumlin Village on Sunday from 1pm to 3pm.

Funeral Mass on Monday at 11am in the Church of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary of Fatima, Rialto followed by cremation in The Garden Chapel, Mount Jerome Crematorium arriving for approximately 12.45pm.

Cherie Kelly, Castlefin

The death has occurred of Cherie Kelly, née Patton, 345 Grahamsland, Castlefinn, F93 YDDX. She passed away peacefully in the care of the staff of Letterkenny University Hospital and surrounded by her loving family.

Predeceased by father Joe, mother Eileen, loving partner Martin, brother Billy and baby sister Maria Goretti; deeply regretted by her loving daughters Gleanoir (Mick), Joanne (Dave) and Olivia (Philip), their father John and grandchildren Onagh, Dylan and Daniel. She is fondly remembered by brothers Michael, Benny, Leo and Damien, sisters Phyllis, Nettie and Margo and her many neices, nephews, grandneices and grandnephews.

Cherie's remains are reposing at her home in Grahamsland. The wake continues on Saturday when everyone is welcome.

Requiem Mass in St Mary's Church, Castlefinn, on Sunday at 2pm, followed by interment in St Patrick’s Churchyard, Murlog. The Requiem Mass will be streamed live via the Parish Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/urneycastlefinnparish

Donations in lieu if so desired to Asthma Society of Ireland, care of any family member.
