Death notices for Donegal on Friday evening

The following deaths have taken place:

- Ciaràn Gillen, Carndonagh and Dublin

- Pat Sweeney, Dublin and Loughanure

- Cherie Kelly, Castlefin

- Sarah Louise Stafford, Churchill

- Patrick Joseph Murray, Donegal Town and Kilcar

- Ena O'Gorman, Bundoran and Mountcharles

Ciaràn Gillen, Carndonagh and Dublin

The sudden death has taken place of Ciarán Gillen, Church Road, Carndonagh, at his home in Dublin.

Predeceased by his father Patsy, he is sadly missed by his mother Mary, his brother Colm (Roísín), his sisters Dympna (Gene), Gráinne (Finbarr), Maeve (Keith), his nieces and nephews Eimear, Eoghan, Seán, Blaíthín and Daríona.

The house is private for now.

Funeral arrangements to follow.

Pat Sweeney, Dublin and Loughanure

The death has occurred of Patrick (Pat) Sweeney, late of New Ireland Road, Rialto and formerly of Loughanure, County Donegal. He passed away peacefully in the wonderful care of staff at St James’s Hospital with his son by his side.

Beloved husband of the late Carmel and loving father of Phil; sadly, missed by his loving son, sisters Vicky and Anne, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

His remains are reposing at the Brian McElroy Funeral Home, Crumlin Village on Sunday from 1pm to 3pm.

Funeral Mass on Monday at 11am in the Church of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary of Fatima, Rialto followed by cremation in The Garden Chapel, Mount Jerome Crematorium arriving for approximately 12.45pm.

Cherie Kelly, Castlefin

The death has occurred of Cherie Kelly, née Patton, 345 Grahamsland, Castlefinn, F93 YDDX. She passed away peacefully in the care of the staff of Letterkenny University Hospital and surrounded by her loving family.

Predeceased by father Joe, mother Eileen, loving partner Martin, brother Billy and baby sister Maria Goretti; deeply regretted by her loving daughters Gleanoir (Mick), Joanne (Dave) and Olivia (Philip), their father John and grandchildren Onagh, Dylan and Daniel. She is fondly remembered by brothers Michael, Benny, Leo and Damien, sisters Phyllis, Nettie and Margo and her many neices, nephews, grandneices and grandnephews.

Cherie's remains will repose at her home in Grahamsland. The wake is private on Friday evening for family and close friends. The wake continues on Saturday when everyone is welcome.

Requiem Mass in St Mary's Church, Castlefinn, on Sunday at 2pm, followed by interment in St Patrick’s Churchyard, Murlog. The Requiem Mass will be streamed live via the Parish Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/urneycastlefinnparish

Donations in lieu if so desired to Asthma Society of Ireland, care of any family member.

Sarah Louise Stafford, Churchill

The death has taken place peacefully in the care of the staff of the Donegal Hospice and surrounded by her loving family, of Sarah Louise Stafford, Churchtown, Gartan, Churchill.

Predeceased by father Sandy (1978), mother Georgina (2012), uncle Jim (1995), uncle Bobby (2011), she is survived by brothers Samuel/Katrina (Philadelphia) James/Sardea (Texas), Sister Beverley/Mitchel (Bonniconlon), and fondly remembered by niece Chloe, nephews Isaac, Alex, Daniel and Andrew, Auntie Tillie, Cousins, neighbours and good friends.

Sarah Louise’s remains will repose at the Eternal Light Chapel of Rest Mountain Top, Letterkenny, F92 XE35 on Friday from 7pm to 9pm, everyone welcome.

Funeral service in St Columba’s Parish Church, Churchill on Saturday at 1pm, followed by private cremation.

Patrick Joseph Murray, Donegal Town and Kilcar

The death has occurred peacefully, of Patrick Joseph Murray, The Glebe Donegal Town, and formerly Kilcar. He passed away at the Sheil Hospital Ballyshannon, surrounded by his loving family.

He is sadly missed by his loving wife Evelyn , sons Paul (Susan), Declan (Sonya), Leo (Grace), Brian (Mairead) and by his brothers, sisters, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

PJ’s remains will be reposing at Tír Conaíll Funeral Home, Donegal Town, F94 FX3A on Friday from 4pm until 8pm with removal to his late residence in the Glebe to reside over night. House private to family and friends only please.

Removal to St Patrick’s Church, Donegal Town on Saturday morning for Rrequiem Mass at 2pm, with interment to the Clar graveyard. 

Family flowers only donations if so desired to the Sheil patient comfort fund care of any family member or Faulkner funeral undertakers.

Ena O'Gorman, Bundoran and Mountcharles

The death has taken place suddenly of Ena O'Gorman, Drumacrin Road, East End, Bundoran and formerly of Bay View Terrace, Mountcharles.

Predeceased by her parents Michael and Philomena ,brothers Gerard and Leo, she is deeply regretted by her sister Marie, brothers Denis (Ann) and Michael (Siobhan), her godson Jason, and sadly missed all of her nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and wide circle of friends.

Funeral Mass took place on Friday morning at the Church of Our Lady Star of the Sea, Bundoran.

Removal from Breslin’s Funeral Home on Saturday morning at 10am to arrive at Lakelands Crematorium, Cavan for cremation service at 12 noon. All are welcome. 

Family flowers only please, donations in memory of Ena to The Irish Heart Foundation via a donation box at Funeral Home/ Church or to Breslin’s Funeral Directors.
