The following deaths have taken place:

Cecilia McGonagle, Moville

The peaceful death has taken place at Letterkenny University Hospital of Cecilia McGonagle (née Craig), formerly of Ballynally, Moville.

Much Loved Mother of Louise, Marie and Paul (Patricia) and a cherished Granny of Seán, Matthew, Aimee, Jaydin, Rylan, Pierce, Jake Paul and Ella.


Predeceased by sister Mary and brother Patrick, deeply regretted and sadly missed by her sister Christina and her brothers Hughie and John.

Cecilia’s remains are now reposing at the home of her sister, Christina, 120 St Finian’s Park, Moville (F93 E8HP) where everyone is welcome to pay their respects.

Removal from there on Tuesday, April 1 at 11.30am for 12pm private burial in Ballybrack Cemetery.

Eunice Toland, Clonmany

The peaceful death has occurred at Carndonagh Community Hospital of Eunice Toland, Tornabratley, Clonmany, F93P11F.

Predeceased by her parents Philip, Bridget, brother and twin sisters.

Much loved sister of Bernard (Bridie), Marion, Ellen Anne (Danny), Michael (Rose), Philip (Susie), Patrick (Margaret), sadly missed by her nieces, nephews, cousins and the wider family circle.

Her remains will be reposing at her home on Sunday, March 30 at 11am where all are welcome to pay respects.

Funeral from there on Tuesday, April 1 at 10:30am, going to St Mary’s Church Clonmany for requiem Mass at 11am with interment afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Family time please from 10pm till 11am and on the morning of the funeral.

There will be a shuttle bus service in operation on Sunday from 3pm till 10pm and Monday from 5pm till 10pm from the car park at Rashenny National School.

Seamus Gillespie, Bruckless

The peaceful death has occurred at Letterkenny Hospice of Seamus Gillespie, Drumaghy, Bruckless, surrounded by his loving family.

Predeceased by his loving wife Mary, infant son Brian, sisters Rita, Josephine, and Kathleen and brother-in-law Patrick.

Dearly loved and sadly missed by his sons Jimmy (Fidelma), Michael (Louise), Jason (Laura), his adored grandchildren Daniel, Darragh, Chloe and Andrea and his extended family, friends and neighbours.

Private removal for family and neighbours to his home on Sunday, March 30.

Remains reposing on Monday, March 31 from 11am to 9pm.

Funeral mass on Tuesday, April 1 at 11am in St Mary of the Visitation Church, Killybegs with burial afterwards in local cemetery.

Patrick McCabe, Glenties, Cavan and Meath

The death has taken place of Patrick McCabe, Cornagrillagh, Glenties, formerly of Carnalynch, Bailieborough County Cavan, and former Principal of St Anne’s NS Maio, Tierworker County Meath. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family.

Predeceased by his parents John and Nan, his infant brother Anthony and his infant sister Brigid. He will be forever loved and sadly missed by his devoted wife Winnie, his children Deirdre, Grace, John, Mairéad and Úna, son-in-law Martin, daughter-in-law Regan and grandson Páidí, his sisters Rita and Winnie, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, relatives and friends.

His remains are reposing at his late residence, F94 CF86), from 10.30am to 3pm on Tuesday, where you are welcome to pay your respects. Family time please before this, and on the morning of funeral. Removal from his home on Tuesday evening to Holy Family Church Edeninfagh, arriving at 4pm to repose overnight. 

Requiem Mass on Wednesday at 12 noon, followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery. Mass can be viewed here

Bridie Doherty, Glenties

The peaceful death has taken place of Bridie Doherty, née Maguire, surrounded by her loving family at her home at Mill Road, Glenties F94Y7A8.

Predeceased by her loving husband Patrick and brothers Patsy and Seamus, much loved mother of Patrick (Anne), Anita, Kevin (Geraldine), Shaun (Patricia), Brendan (Imelda), Breege (Michael) and Caroline (Gerard); devoted grandmother to all her grandchildren and great grandchildren; Bridie will be sadly missed by her extended family and many friends.

Bridie’s remains will repose at Shovlin’s funeral home, Sandfield, Ardara F94N923 on Saturday from 3pm until 7pm followed by removal to her residence. House private on Saturday evening. Her remains will repose at her residence on Sunday from 11am until 11pm. Family time on the morning of the funeral.

Funeral Mass on Monday morning at 11am in St Connell’s Church, Glenties with burial afterwards in the local cemetery. Mass can be viewed live on www.churchservices.tv/glenties.

Joe Hannigan, Killygordon and Ballybofey

The death has occurred of Joe Hannigan, Carricknamana, Killygordon, formerly Navenny Street, Ballybofey. Joe passed away peacefully in Donegal Hospice surrounded by his loving family.

Predeceased by his parents Patrick and Rosaleen, beloved husband of Stephanie, much loved father of Aaron, Joshua, Jordan, Adam, Joel and Jessica, cherished brother of Charlie, Paddy, Aidan, Martin (late Jacqueline) and Bridie (Seamus). Deeply regretted and lovingly remembered by his loving wife, sons, daughter, brothers, sister, nephews, nieces, extended family, and wide circle of friends.

His remains are reposing at Mc Cool’s Chapel of Rest on Saturday and Sunday from 6pm to 9pm.

Funeral leaving from there on Monday at 10.20am via Navenny Street, Main Street, Glefinn Street for the celebration of Joe’s life in Jackson’s Hotel at 11am. Interment will take place afterwards in Drumboe Cemetery.

Mary McMahon, Muff

The death has occurred at Buncrana Community Hospital of Mary McMahon, née Doherty, Drumhaggart, Muff, F93 DX59 and formerly Castlequarter, Inch Island and Dublin.

Predeceased by her husband William, brothers and sisters Charlie, Columba, Dominick, Angela, Philomena and Harry Leo, much loved mother of Liam, Mairead, Peter and Una, loving sister of Patrick, Margaret, John and Dolores. Mary will be sadly missed by her loving daughters, sons, daughters-in-law, son-in-law, grandchildren, brothers, sisters, extended family and friends.

Mary's remains will be reposing at her home on Saturday evening from 5pm where you are all welcome to pay your respects. Family time please from 10pm to 2pm.

Removal from there on Monday morning at 10.15am to Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Inch Island for requiem Mass at 11am followed by interment in the adjoining graveyard. Requiem mass can be viewed on Youtube Fahan Parish.
