The following deaths have taken place:

James Harty, Ballyshannon and Waterford

The death has occurred of James (Jamie) Harty, Newport, South Wales. He passed away peacefully after a short illness on  December 11, 2024, aged 60 years.

Sadly missed by his heartbroken wife Claire Harty nee Dolan, The Knather, Ballyshannon. Missed and cherished by his sisters Maggie, Sue and Anna, mother-in-law Teresa Dolan, The Knather, Ballyshannon and brother in laws, sister in laws, nieces and nephews and all his friends.

Requiem Mass to take place on Thursday, January 9 at 1.30pm at St Patrick's RC Church, Newport, South Wales followed by cremation at Langstone Vale Crematorium at 3pm.

A Mass will be offered for Jamie in St Patrick’s Church, Ballyshannon at a later date.

John Cooper, Buncrana

The death has taken place in Donegal hospice, Letterkenny of John Cooper (Sean), 5 Knockalla Drive, Buncrana.

Father of Tommy, Christine Shauna, Jordan and Reuben, son of the late Thomas and Annie Cooper RIP.

Remains reposing at McLaughlin's Funeral Home, Buncrana from 2pm until 7pm on Friday, January 3 and Saturday, January 4.

Removal from there on Sunday at 10am going to Lakelands Crematorium for cremation at pm.

Owen Kelly, Buncrana

The peaceful death has occurred at Lower Illies, Ballymagan, Buncrana, Co Donegal of Owen Kelly husband of the late Anna and loving father of Mary (Sean), Bernadette (Gerard) and Brian (Noreen).

Owen will be sadly missed by his son, daughters, grandchildren, great grandchildren, family, friends and all who knew him.

Removal on Friday, January 3 at 2pm from The Eternal Light Chapel of Rest, Letterkenny going to his late residence at Lower Illies.

Funeral from there on Sunday, January 5 leaving at 10am going to St Mary’s Church, Cockhill for 11am Mass with burial afterwards in the adjoining Cemetery. Funeral can be viewed live here.

Pádraig O Boyle, Bunbeg

The death has taken place at his home of Pádraig O Boyle, Knockastolar, Bunbeg.

Predeceased by his baby sister Louise.

Sadly missed by his parents; Vincent & Bella, his sister Katie & her husband Philipp, his brothers; Pól and Seán and extended family and friends.

His remains will repose at his home today, Friday, January 3, from 2pm to 8pm and on Saturday from 11am to 8pm. Rosary both nights at 8pm.

House private after the rosary and on the morning of the funeral. Funeral Mass on Sunday, January 5 at 1pm in St Mary’s Church, Derrybeg.

Hugo Melly, Ardara

The death has taken place of Hugo Melly, Portnoo Road, Ardara. He passed away peacefully at Dungloe Community Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

Predeceased by his parents John and Grace, his brothers Anthony, Sean and Conal.

Hugo will be forever missed by his loving wife Ann, Daughter Marie (Eddie), sons Stephen (Joanne) and Peter(Arlene) and his much loved grandchildren Ella, Joel, Sarah and David. Sadly missed by his brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews and all his relatives neighbours and friends.

His remains will repose at his residence on Friday, January 3 from 11am to 11pm.

Funeral from there tomorrow morning, Saturday, January 4 at 11.30am going to The Church Of The Holy Family, Ardara for 12noon requiem mass with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Family flowers only please donations in lieu if desired to Dungloe Community Hospital c/o any family member.

Frank Hirrell, Carndonagh

The peaceful death has taken place at Carndonagh Community Hospital of Frank Hirrell, Gortnayarn, Carndonagh.

Predeceased by his wife Madge Hirrell (Collins). Predeceased by his sisters Maeve, Mary, Tessie and Rosaline, his brothers Packie, Tommy and Peter.

Deeply regretted and sadly missed by his sisters Kathleen and Sadie, stepdaughters Bridie and Josie and all the Collins family.

Frank’s remains are reposing at the home of his step daughter, Josie and Bernard Lynch’s home, Ballyloskey, Carndonagh F93 FX94 where you are all welcome to pay your respects.

Funeral from there tomorrow morning, Saturday, January 4 at 10.20am for 11am Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, Carndonagh followed by interment in the adjoining graveyard.

Mick Mc Gettigan, Carrigart

The death has taken place at Letterkenny University Hospital of Mick Mc Gettigan (Wee Mick), Glenree, Carrigart.

Predeceased by his wife Madge, survived by his sons Michael and Patrick, daughters Bridie, Ann, Mary and Margaret, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

Removal from the Eternal Light Chapel of Rest, Mountain Top, Letterkenny on Thursday, January 2 at 2pm going to his late residence.

Funeral from there on Saturday, January 4 going to the Church of St John the Baptist for requiem mass at 11am followed by interment in the adjoining cemetery.

Family time from 10pm to 11am and on the morning of the funeral. Mass can be viewed live on Mevagh Parish Facebook page.

Brigid McGinty, Glencolmcille and London

The sudden death has taken place of Brigid (Breda) McGinty (nee Cunnea), Hammersmith, London and formerly of Cashel, Glencolmcille, Co. Donegal.

Beloved wife of Seamus and much-loved mother of Marie, Jenny and James, and grandmother to Emmet.

Greatly missed by her family and friends. Funeral details in London to be confirmed.

Joseph Houston, Cloghan

The death has occurred peacefully at his home in Birmingham, England, in his 100th year, of Joseph Houston, formerly of Lettershanbo, Cloghan.

Beloved husband of the late Mary, much loved father to Angela, (James) Caroline, (Craig) and John (Helen). Deeply regretted and sadly missed by his son, daughter, grandchildren, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, nephews, nieces in Ireland and England, (Mc Cool family, Hone family, Houston family) extended family and friends.

Joe’s Requiem Mass will take place on Monday, January 13 at 11am in the Church of St Joseph and St Helen, Kings Norton, with interment in St. Nicholas Churchyard, Kings Norton.The Requiem Mass will be streamed live via the Parish Webcam at https://www.youtube.com/@ssjosephandhelen
