Tony O'Donnell, Cork and Ballybofey

The death has occurred of Tony O'Donnell, Carrigaline, Cork and Ballybofey. He passed away peacefully in the presence of his loving family following a long illness, in the wonderful care of Marymount and public health staff. Adored husband of Mary, much loved father of Kate, Annie and Jodie, brother of Manus, Evelyn and the late Noreen, son of Manus and the late Eileen, fond father-in-law of Alan and Jodie’s partner Darren. Deeply missed by his heartbroken family, sister-in-law Sherina, brother-in-law Pauric, nephews, nieces, relatives, close friends and kind neighbours.

Reposing at Fordes Funeral Home, Old Waterpark, Carrigaline, on Friday, February 2 between 2pm and 3pm. Requiem Mass on Saturday, February 3 at 1pm at The Church of Our Lady and St John, Carrigaline which may be viewed here. Cremation afterwards at The Island Crematorium, Ringaskiddy.

Brian Egan, Ballintra

The death has occurred of Brian Egan Lismintan, Ballintra. He passed away peacefully, at Donegal Community Hospital. Predeceased by his parents, Bernard and Dr Marie and by his daughter, Nessa Egan. Much loved husband of Theresa. Sadly missed by his son, Brian Og, his brother, Fergus, his sister, Emer, grandson, Ultan, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended Egan and Britton families. Reposing at Tir Conaill Funeral Home, Donegal Town on Friday from 4pm until 7:30pm, with removal to St Brigid's Church, Ballintra, for Receival of remains at 8:15pm. Funeral Mass on Saturday at 11am with burial afterwards in the adjoining graveyard. Funeral Mass will be available to view online here.

Patrick Mc Gee, Derrybeg and Glasgow

The death has taken place in Glasgow of Patrick Mc Gee, originally of Lunniagh, Derrybeg. Predeceased by his loving wife Margaret, sister Madge and brother Hugh.

Sadly missed by his daughters, Marie and Rosaleen, son Patrick, son-in-law Brian, daughter-in-law Anne Marie, sister Mary, eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and extended family and friends.

His remains will be received into St Mary’s Church, Derrybeg (F92 H289) on Saturday, February 3, at 6pm to repose overnight.

Funeral Mass on Sunday afternoon at 1pm, interment afterwards in Maghergallon Cemetery.

Gary Wallace, Muff

The death has taken place of Gary Wallace, late of 444 Grove Cottages, Muff. He passed away peacefully at Altnagelvin hospital, surrounded by his loving family on February 1.

Beloved son of Margaret and Desmond. Loving brother of Louise, Kevin, Madeline, Stephanie, Marc, Matthew, Simon and Jodi. A much-loved father of Sophie and Dylan. Deeply regretted and sadly missed by all of his wider family circle and friends.

Remains reposing at his late family residence, 444 Grove Cottages, Muff. Wake house will be private from 10pm until 11am.

Funeral leaving from there on Saturday, February 3 at 12:20pm for 1pm Requiem Mass in Sacred Heart Church, Muff, which can be viewed here. Burial will take place immediately afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Jim Curran, Dunfanaghy

The peaceful death has taken place in Letterkenny University Hospital of Jim Curran, Faugher, Portnablagh, Dunfanaghy.

Much loved husband of Sandra, and father of Ruth (predeceased), Liam, Michael and James. Sadly missed by his daughters in law, Roisin and Rosemary, grandchildren Rachel, Claire, Lorna, Dylan, Jason and Evan, great grandchildren Erin and Abel.

His remains are reposing at his late residence. Family time from 10pm to 11am.

Funeral Mass in Holy Cross Church, Dunfanaghy, on Saturday, February 3 at 3pm, which can be view live here. Burial in the adjoining graveyard.

Nora Curran, Gortahork

The peaceful death has taken place in the Donegal Hospice of Nora Curran Derryconnor, Gortahork F92 VY93.

Predeceased by her parents Barney and Gracie and her brother John; survived by her brother James, niece and nephew and a circle of friends.

Removal from Gortahork Funeral Premises F92 FT7C on Thursday at 2pm going to her late residence in Derryconnor. Rosary on Thursday evening at 8pm. House private after rosary until 11am.

Removal from there on Friday for 6pm Rosary in Christ the King Church, Gortahork to repose overnight.

Brigid Mc Laughlin, Buncrana


The death has taken place in her 100th year, in the wonderful care of Buncrana Community Hospital, of Brigid McLaughlin, Old Post Office, Linsfort and 6 Crana View, Cockhill Road, Buncrana.

Pre deceased by her parents Jimmy and Bridget, siblings infant Mary, Mary Jo (Doherty), Tessie, Pat, James and Rois. Brigid will be sadly missed by her brother Joe (Derry), sister Susan Murphy (Tullamore) nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and neighbours.

Her remains will repose at McLaughlin's Funeral Home, Lr Main Street, Buncrana on Thursday from 3pm until 7pm. Removal on Thursday evening at 7.15 p.m. to arrive at the Star of the Sea Church, Desertegney for 7.30pm for Mass in honor of St Brigid at 8 pm.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated there at 11am on Friday, with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

James Gallagher, Letterkenny

The sudden death has taken place at his home of James (Jim) Patrick Gallagher of Fallard/Calhame, Letterkenny, retired Garda Superintendent and originally from Corr Point, Lettermacaward.

Predeceased by his brothers Michael and Eamonn. Deeply missed by his loving wife Kathleen, daughters Jimelle and Ciara, sons Michael and James, son-in-law Shaun, granddaughter Leah, grandson Noah, sisters Maureen, Anna and Dolores.

Reposing at the Eternal Light Chapel of Rest, Mountain Top, Letterkenny (F92 XE35) from 2.30pm to 4.30pm on Thursday, February 1, concluding with removal to St Eunan’s Cathedral, Letterkenny for reception prayers at 5pm.

His remains will repsose overnight for 11am Requiem Mass on Friday, which can be viewed live at www.churchservices.tv/letterkenny followed by burial in Cill Bhríde Cemetery, Lettermacaward.

Niall Mc Garvey, Ranafast

Fuair Niall Mac Gairbheith (Niall Sheáin) as Rann na Feirste bás in Áras Ghaoth Dobhair.

Dhéanfar é a fhaire sa bhaile Déardaoin agus Dé hAoine ón 11 a chlog go dtí'n 8 a chlog. Cuirfear é i sean reilig Anagaire, Dé Sathairn, i ndiaidh Aifreann 11 a chlog i dTeach Pobail Réalt na Mara, Anagaire.

The death has taken place in Áras Ghaoth Dobhair of Niall Mc Garvey of Ranafast.

Predeceased by his sisters Margaret, Mary, Susan, Frances, Nellie and Sarah, brothers-in-law Hughie and John and nieces Bridie, Margaret and Sadie. Sadly missed by his sister Nuala, brother-in-law Peter, nieces, nephew and extended family and friends.

His remains will repose at his home on Thursday and Friday from 11am to 8pm. Rosary nightly at 8pm. House private after rosary and on the morning of the funeral to family only.

Madge McMonagle, Falcarragh

The death has occurred of Madge McMonagle, Nee McFadden, Upper Derryreel, Falcarragh.

Survived by her husband John, daughter Marie, son-in-law Christopher, brothers Neilly and Barney, grandchildren Caiden, Clodagh and Ava, extended family and friends.

Her remains are reposing at her late residence. Family time from 10pm to 11am and on the morning of the funeral.

Aisling Lyttle, Stranorlar

The death has occurred at Letterkenny University Hospital of Aisling Lyttle, née McShane, Shancreggan, Stranorlar (F93YW57) formerly of Kilcar.

Aisling will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her husband David, son Darragh and daughter Amy. Sadly missed by her mother Margaret and mother-in-law Lily. Predeceased by her father Bernard McShane and father-in-law Ronnie Lyttle. Deeply regretted by her brothers Brendan, Paul (Teresa), Kieran (Anne), Brian (Brenda), sisters Deirdre (Michael), Yvonne (Oliver), Andrea (Adrian), Carla (Michael), sister-in-law Rhonda (Justin), nieces, nephews, extended family circle, neighbours and many friends.

Her remains are reposing at her late residence. Rosary each night at 9pm. Family time please from 10pm to 12 noon and on the morning of the funeral.

Mary Doherty, Letterkenny

The death has occurred of Mary Doherty (née Patton) Upper Dromore, Letterkenny F92 E2YR.

Deeply missed by her loving sons Niall, Peter, PT, Tommy and Jim (Sligo) and daughters Isobel (Sligo) and Elaine (Sligo), grandchildren and great-grandchildren, son-in-law, daughters-in-law, brothers Peter, Tommy, Jim and Paddy and sister Peggy Tourish, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and a wide circle of family, friends and neighbours. Mary is predeceased by her husband Paddy and baby Helen, sisters Rose, Bella McGinley, Rosaleen McGee, Rita Duddy and Ethna Boyle.

Mary’s remains will continue reposing at her late residence on Thursday from 2pm until 10pm. There will be a shuttle bus operating from Jim Patton’s home, Trimragh F92 E9DV from 6pm.

Celebration of Mary’s life and prayers will take place at the family home on Friday, followed by interment in Conwal Cemetery, Letterkenny, at a time to be confirmed.

Gerard Monaghan, Mayo and Dunkineely

The death has occurred of Gerard (Gerry/Ger) Monaghan who passed away suddenly on Sunday morning.

Deeply adored and missed by his parents Joey and Rosaleen (McCabe), sons Sean and Kieran and their mother Margaret, his sisters Kaz and Michelle, Sharon and his many friends, extended family and neighbours.

Funeral Mass on Thursday at 11am in The Church of St Joseph and St Conal, Bruckless followed by burial in Ballintra Cemetery.

Molly Guy, Dublin and Lifford

The death has occurred of Molly Guy, née Caffrey, Sandyford, Dublin and Lifford. She passed away peacefully at St Vincent’s University Hospital while surrounded by her loving family.

Beloved wife of the late Joseph and much-loved mother of Hugh. Sadly missed and remembered by all her family, brothers Tony, Gerard, Brian, Kevin and Patrick, sister Una, brother-in-law John, sister-in-law Mary, daughter-in-law Michelle, nephews, nieces, grandchildren Molly and Darragh, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Removal on Thursday to St Mary’s Church, Sandyford Village arriving for 11am Mass, followed thereafter to Glencullen Cemetery.

Kevin Donaghy, Bruckless

The death has occurred of Kevin Donaghy, Darney, Bruckless.

Sadly missed by his loving wife, Wendy, of 61 years, children Natasha (Alex), Tristan (Anne), Marcus (Anne), Meriel (Bill) and grandchildren, extended family, relatives and friends.

A celebration of Kevin’s life will take place in St John’s Church Killybegs on Friday at 12noon.

John Sweeney, Milford and Louth

The sudden death has taken place of John Sweeney (John the Chef) of Milford and Lunniagh, Derrybeg, originally from Drogheda.
