Deaths in Donegal - Sunday morning, February 19, 2023

The following deaths have occurred:

- Mary Kinsella, Ballyshannon and Dublin

- Maggie McCloskey, Carndonagh

- Mary Russell, Lancashire and Letterkenny

- Becky Bryson, Castlefinn

- David Devine, formerly Ballindrait, Lifford

- Simon Nolan, Ballydevitt, Donegal Town

Brigid (Bridie) McDonald (née McNally), Three Trees, Quigley’s Point

The death has taken place at the Donegal hospice of Brigid (Bridie) McDonald (née McNally), Three Trees, Quigley’s Point, F93 P590.

Loving wife of Patrick and beloved-mother of Michael, Tommy, Paddy, David, Rose, and James. Deeply regretted and sadly missed by her grandchildren, daughters-in-law, son-in-law, wide family circle and friends.

Bridie’s remains will repose at her home on Saturday, February 18, from 5pm where you are welcome to pay your respects. Funeral Mass will take place on Monday at 11am in the Sacred Heart Church, Muff, followed by burial in the adjoining graveyard.

Denis Doherty, Croragh, Culdaff and formerly of Newcastle, County Dublin 

The Death has taken place at Letterkenny University Hospital of Denis Doherty, Croragh, Culdaff and formerly of Newcastle, County Dublin.

Retired Garda Sergeant. Beloved Husband of Mary and Father of George, Denis, Yvonne and Shaun. Sadly missed by his wife, sons, daughter, sisters Mary and Una and his brother George, his grandchildren, daughters-in-law, son-in-law, nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law and brother-in-law.

Denis’s remains will repose at the home of  his daughter, Yvonne, at Bunagee, Culdaff, from 11am to 2pm on Sunday and 4p, to 7pm on Monday, where you are welcome to pay your respects. House is private outside of these times.

Funeral Mass will take place on Tuesday at 11am in St Mary’s Church, Bocan, Culdafff, followed by burial in the adjoining graveyard.

Mary Kinsella, Ballyshannon and Dublin

The death has occurred of Mary Kinsella, née Dolan, Clondalkin and formerly of Ballyshannon. She passed away peacefully on February 17, after a short illness, surrounded by her loving family in the wonderful care of all the staff of Our Lady’s Hospice, Harold’s Cross. 

Beloved wife of John and much-loved mother of Andrea and Paul, sadly missed by her loving husband, children, son-in-law Cameron, her adored grandchildren Olivia and James, sisters, brothers, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours, friends and colleagues in PEK Contract Flooring.

Reposing at her home on Sunday from 2pm to 4pm. Funeral Mass Monday at 11am in Church of the Immaculate Conception, Clondalkin Village followed by burial in Newlands Cemetery.

Maggie McCloskey, Carndonagh

The death has taken place peacefully at her home of Maggie McCloskey, Collon, Carndonagh, F93 EN81.

Her remains are reposing at her home. Funeral from there on Sunday, February 19 at 11.15am for 12 noon Mass in the Church of the Sacred Heart, Carndonagh followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Mary Russell, Lancashire and Letterkenny

The peaceful death has taken place on Tuesday, February 15 of Mary Russell, née McGeever, Freckleton, Preston, Lancashire, formerly of Garryharry, Letterkenny.

Predeceased by her beloved husband Johnny and dear brothers Gerald and Jim. Much-loved mother of Kevin and Yvonne, and dear sister of Sarah McDermott, Glencar Scotch, Letterkenny.

Reposing at her late residence from Saturday evening, February 18.

Funeral from there on Sunday, February 19 at 12 noon for Requiem Mass at Holy Family Church, Freckleton, followed by burial at St John The Willows, Kirkham.

Deeply regretted by her sorrowful son, daughter, sister, nieces, nephews, extended family and her many dear friends.

Becky Bryson, Castlefinn

The death has occurred of Becky Bryson, née Hughes, Braeburn Cottage, Mullanbuoy, Castlefinn F93 K8H4.

Beloved wife of Aussie, much-loved mother of Noelle and the late Shawn, loving granny of Michael, Maria, Rebecca and Adam, cherished sister of Alice (Lynch), Pat-Joe and the late Tom and Margaret (Moore).

Removal on Saturday, February 18 at 3.45pm to St Mary’s Church, Castlefinn, arriving at approximately 4pm to repose overnight.

Requiem Mass on Sunday, February 19 at 11am. Interment afterwards in St Mary’s Cemetery, Castlefinn.

Family flowers only please, donations in lieu if desired to St Joseph’s Patient Comfort Fund, Stranorlar c/o Charles Lynch, Funeral Director, 50, Castlefinn Road, Castlederg.

Very deeply regretted and sadly missed by her entire family circle. 

David Devine, formerly Ballindrait, Lifford

The death has taken place in Manchester of David Devine on  February 13, formerly of Ballindrait, Lifford. Funeral will take place on Tuesday, February 28 followed by a burial in Manchester. 

Simon Nolan, Ballydevitt, Donegal Town

The death has occurred of Simon Nolan, peacefully at his home in Shirley, Croydon, formerly of Ballydevitt, Donegal Town.
Dearly loved and sadly missed by his wife, Philomena (née McGinty, Townawilly), and children Isabella, Caoimhe, Matthew and Noelle. Predeceased by his parents, Ann and Matthew.
Funeral arrangements are to be announced at a later date.
