Death of one of Donegal's oldest residents, Nora Shovlin aged 106

The peaceful death has occurred of one of Donegal's oldest residents, Nora Shovlin, aged 106, at her home in Bavin, Kilcar surrounded by her loving family
Nora Shovlin was born on April 9th 1920 and became the 17th centenarian in the Kilcar parish in a 26 year period, a remarkable statistic.
Nora spent her entire life in the same dwelling in Bavin, where her mother, Bridget and father John McBrearty ran a small shop.
Nora married Peter Shovlin from Crowkeeragh, Kilcar on October 23, 1945 and she continued to work along with her mother in the country shop, which she maintained until her later years.
She celebrated her 100th birthday during Covid-19. Always very healthy, Nora had a real love for the outdoors, whether that be walking or her favourite pastime, gardening. Her longevity may also be attributable to her healthy eating and never drinking or smoking.
Predeceased by her husband Peter, her parents John and Bridget Mc Brearty, her brothers John Joe and Jim and her grandson Declan.
Sadly missed by her daughter Geraldine (Paddy) and her son Hugh (Elizabeth). Missed dearly by her grandchildren Laura, Stephen, Barry, Tracy, Pauric, Mark, Marie and her 12 great grandchildren.
May her Gentle Soul Rest in Peace
