Celebrity chef Neven Maguire is set to bring something a little different to this year’s Electric Picnic as he takes to the decks after hosting a live cookery demo at the festival.

The Cavan native, best known for his long-running RTÉ food shows and MacNean House restaurant in Blacklion, will combine two of his passions: food and music.

“I’ll do a cookery demo and then play some of my favourite tracks,” he said ahead of the Stradbally weekend. “It’s just a bit of fun, I’m calling it Mixin’ in the Kitchen.”

Neven said "I’ve always loved music, so bringing both passions together on one stage is something I’m really excited about.”

It comes after a hectic few months for the chef, who fractured his shoulder in a kitchen accident earlier this summer but has refused to slow down. Alongside his Electric Picnic appearance, Maguire is preparing a brand new TV series, Neven’s Ulster Food Trail, and is also working on his next cookbook, 'Wham Bam One Pan', due out next year.

Maguire, who has published 19 books and fronted countless TV shows, says he’s looking forward to bringing something fresh to festivalgoers “I’ve a big vinyl collection at home, so getting to share that with people after cooking on stage is a real buzz.”

After his Electric Picnic stint, Maguire will head straight into filming another TV project in the UK before his annual RTÉ Christmas special later this year.
