NATIONAL: ‘What has happened to our country?’ Former RTE star shocked by actions of deli staff

A FORMER RTE star was shocked by the actions of deli staff in Co Dublin.

Gareth O’Callaghan, a writer and former presenter on RTE 2fm, called out Deli staff on X, formerly known as Twitter, after they binned food instead of giving it to homeless people.

“Freezing cold in Dublin this evening. Ran into a Deli before they closed at 6pm. 2 sausages, bacon and hash. €2. Meanwhile the assistant is dumping the entire counter selection into a bin bag,” he said in a tweet.

He added: “Two men and a woman sitting outside on the ground begging. What's happened our country.”
