Eight of the 14 people found in shipping container at Rosslare Europort are missing from state services

Eight people discovered in a refrigerated truck at Rosslare on Monday have left State services.

They were part of a group of fourteen people found in the vehicle that arrived at Rosslare Europort from Zeebrugge, Belgium.

The group of Kurdish and Vietnamese migrants, including two young girls, were given medical checks and brought to a reception centre in Dublin for processing following their discovery.

In a statement, the Department of Justice said it did not comment on individual cases, but added that where State accommodation was provided in such circumstances, no person was required to remain in that accommodation.

Gardaí have launched a human trafficking investigation.
