Man seriously injured after crash in Co Mayo

A man has been seriously injured after a road collision in Co Mayo.

The incident, involving a car and a pedestrian, took place on the Moneen Road in Castlebar at around 3.30am on Sunday.

The injured man, a pedestrian aged in his late 30s, was taken to Mayo University Hospital where he remains in a serious condition.

No one else was injured.

The road was closed and the scene is due to be examined by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.

Gardai are appealing for witnesses to the collision and anyone with camera footage who was in the area to get in touch.
