The first contestants for this year's summer Love Island series have been announced with an Irish beauty set to be among the 12 entering the villa on Monday June 9.

The 12th season of the hugely popular reality show which follows young good looking contestants looking for love, drama and everything in between returns next week on Virgin Media.

This series, presented by Maya Jama, promises to be "bigger, bolder, more twists, more bombshells and more drama than ever".

Among the drama will be 24-year-old Dublin native Megan Forte Clarke who is currently based in Brighton in the UK.

The brunette beauty is musical theatre performer and energy broker who says her type is "someone a bit pasty, like Timothy Chalamet", and she doesn't mind someone who is "scrawny" or "has a bit of a dad bod".

Megan went viral on Tik Tok for a Derry Girls skit she filmed with her friends which garnered her more that 12,000 likes on the popular video sharing app.

She also added that while in the villa, she will be looking for someone "who doesn't take themselves too seriously and has a sense of humour. If they're not bad looking, that's always a plus."

Megan joins the Irish alumni of Love island including Maura Higgins, Catherine Agbaje, Greg O'Shea and Yewande Biala, among others.

Love Island starts on Virgin Media One on Monday June 9 at 9pm.
