Facebook and Instagram down for Irish users
The problem appears to be an international one affecting Facebook and Instagram, but not X
The outage appears to be not just confined to Ireland but is an international one, with reports of the services being down in multiple countries
Facebook and Instagram are two of the most popular social media platforms in Ireland. The social media giants have confirmed that they are working on the issue.
Andy Stone, from Meta communications said: "We're aware people are having trouble accessing our services. We are working on this now".
X (formerly known as Twitter) hasn't encountered any problems, with many posting on this platform about the difficulties being encountered on the other platforms.
Needless to say, X owner, Elon Musk also saw the funny side of the situation.
It is not yet clear when the social media platforms will return.
#instagramdown is trending as the number one item on X.
