Cyclist dies after collision with railings

A cyclist has died after colliding with railings in Co Laois.

Gardai are investigating the incident which occurred in College Avenue, Mountmellick, on Sunday at around 4.30pm.

The male cyclist in his 50s was taken to Midland Regional Hospital in Portlaoise where he died.

The road was closed for a technical examination of the scene.

Gardai are appealing for witnesses.
