Bank holiday parade to honour women in Dublin

A parade celebrating women will form part of the schedule for a Dublin City festival which will run across the February bank holiday weekend.
The third annual Brigit: Dublin City Celebrating Women will feature more than 60 events across the city beginning on February 1 and finishing on February 5.

Commenting on the initiative, Lord Mayor of Dublin Daithi de Roiste said the city-wide programme is the biggest so far.
He added: “Brigit 2024 gives us the opportunity to acknowledge the contributions and achievements of Irish women both past and present and to celebrate the impact these continue to make on our society. ”

Kicking off at Wolfe Tone Square, an eclectic mix of walkers, rollerskaters, cyclists and performers will stroll through the heart of Dublin in a tribute to inspiring women.
The parade will culminate at the famous GPO on O’Connell Street.
It will be followed by the Brigit Rising Concert at the Abbey Presbyterian Church at 7.30pm, featuring Dublin-born singer and composer Rachael Lavelle, Dublin alt-pop band Soda Blonde, and poet Laoighseach Ni Choistealbha
