ALERT: Dozens of motorists caught 'driving under the influence' during Easter crackdown

Gardai issue urgent appeal to drivers ahead of busy bank holiday Monday on Irish roads
Gardai say dozens of motorists have been caught driving under the influence of either alcohol or drugs over the Easter weekend.
A special road safety operation, which began on Holy Thursday, is continuing this Monday with additional gardai being deployed at locations across the country.
Provisional figures released on Easter Sunday show that 65 people were arrested during the first three days of the operation on suspicion of driving under the influence of an intoxicant.
Additionally, gardai say hundreds of drivers have been caught speeding across Ireland.
Around 900 detections were recorded on Thursday and Friday while there were more than 350 drivers were caught speeding on Easter Saturday.
Gardai say they have attended several road traffic crashes over the Easter weekend and one notable speeding detection which has been highlighted relates to a vehicle which was travelling at 110km/h in a 50km/h zone on the Naas Road in Dublin 12.
"This long weekend there are more road users out on the roads than usual whether out walking, cycling or driving to go see loved ones. We urge you to please slow down, do not drive while under the influence and please keep your focus on the road," said a spokesperson.
Gardai will release more details and statistics relating to the Easter period later this week.
